De Molen beer; Gajes & geteisem

It's a cherry brett stout. Really dark, aged in wild turkey and bordeaux casks.

It's huge. "bitter sweet symphony". It's cherry, strawberries, cheezy on the nose.

In the taste the cherries come back, being pushed away by a gingery taste. Followed with bitter sweetness again that's staying for a long time....

Recommended!!

Combined it with pork and honey sweetened salad....

Hakushu, heavily peated - 78/100

Distillery bottling
Abv 48%

nose: peat, light fruit, cookie spices
taste: peat (again), cookies
finish: little tickling, little spice

Hmm, i'm a fan of peated whiskies, but this one could not really get to me. Maybe because i didn't get any deeper level of taste below my first impression. Maybe I should say that for my taste it is not complex enough, should I improve my taste? Definitely, will try it in a few years again....

To be honoust, this was a present. But, boy, what a present indeed!!! This is a VERY nice dram. This is going to be one of my favourite bottles to sip from - maybe even maltstock or a 90-points tasting worth... And many thanks to the giver again!!

Glen Scotia 18yo by Kintra - 85/100

Distilled 02/1992
bottled 11/2010
cask 141
bottle 35 of 62
Abv 52,6%

nose: cherries, cookie spices, sherry
taste: whammie, Dutch black&white candy, peppery
finish: spicy, smokey

This is a reallynice whisky, i tasted it before at the WFNN this yearin Groningen, but believed it deserved a nice re-tasting, so did that last week together with thenext two drams. And it was worth it, finally a small independent Dutch bottler that finds it ways into very nice stock. Still curious what his own new make tastes like....

Locke's 8yo Crock - 82/100

Tasted the Locke's 8yo from a Crock yesterday. Surprised me a lot. I drink Kilbeggan as a 'standard' whiskey ever so often, but this is so different.

Overall: Nice, fresh whiskey
Nose: Oak, Fruity
Taste: Barley, Fruits (pear??), Metallic (copper??)

Didn't expect it to be this light on the nose and taste - a very nice whiskey to have just after your decaf coffee - don't drink it next to espresso; it will be humiliated !!!

No, just kidding - this is really a nice, fresh whiskey that I will be enjoying more often "Me thinks, laddy !!!" :)
